Lower Wisconsin Riverway Board offers canoe trips this summer


The voyageur replica canoes are a unique and fun way to enjoy the Lower Wisconsin State Riverway. The canoes are 25 feet long, weigh approximately 350 pounds and seat 8 adults comfortably.

Retired educators have ghostly encounter


The Sauk County Retired Educators met for lunch on Tuesday, May 12, at Pizza Ranch in Reedsburg. Authors of the book “Haunted Portage,” Shelley Mordini and Sharon Addy, told stories of ghosts, legends, and local history from their recent book. The group’s next meeting will be June 9 in Plain. River Valley Area Community calendar

Lions brat stand in Plain
The Plain Lions are hosting their 12th annual Brat Stand in Plain, Friday and Saturday, May 29th and 30th, north of the Mobil Station on Highway 23. The stand raises funds for Occupaws, which raises guide dogs for the visual impaired for recipients in Wisconsin at no cost.

The Village Board of Sauk City meets the second and fourth Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. in the Village Hall. If there are five Tuesdays in month, it meets the fifth week.
