Reedsburg took a hit on their quest to finish high in the Badger Small Boys Golf standings after tying for sixth place last Wednesday in the final Conference Mini-Meet of the spring at Lake Wisconsin, Sauk-Prairie’s home course.
A trip to Sauk-Prairie kicked off a pivotal week for the Beaver baseball team and Reedsburg left with their first two-game losing streak of the season as the previous Friday’s loss in McFarland was followed by a 10-4 loss at Sauk on Tuesday.
The Reedsburg Beaver boys tennis team entered this past weekend at the Badger Conference Tournament as the number two team in Badger Small and they exit the weekend still holding the number two spot.
For the fourth time this season, the Reedsburg Beaver boys track and field team won a team title in a meet last Tuesday after capturing first place at the Justinger Invitational in Tomah. The girls also placed second behind Tomah in the seven-team field.
On May 29, 1951, history was made at Webb Park as the first sanctioned Little League games in the State of Wisconsin were played right here in Reedsburg. Starting with just four teams, that inaugural season planted the seeds for a baseball tradition that has defined local summers for generations.
A seventh-place girls team finish among a field of over 20 schools was one of the best showings this year for River Valley Blackhawks Track and Field at Friday’s Sparky Reynolds Invite at Boscobel. The boys placed 11th with the Lancaster girls and Platteville boys winning team championships.
The Reedsburg Pirates and Cazenovia Reds were both to open their Sunday League Home Talent Baseball schedules on Sunday, May 17 but steady rains during the day postponed both games with no make-up dates known.
Weston got back above the .500 mark in Ridge and Valley Conference Baseball at 5-4 with a 20-4 win at La Farge last Thursday. Isaac Jennings, Brady Westphal and Trevor Westphal all had two hits each while Isaac Jennings led with four runs scored. Gavin Kast belted a HR and led with three rbi’s as well.
The track and field programs in the Southwest Wisconsin Conference, including the River Valley Blackhawks, got a final chance to compete with one another last week before the end of season SWC Meet as the conference schools gathered in Prairie du Chien last Tuesday with no team scores kept.
