Tuesday was a good day for the Reedsburg Beaver boys tennis team, but Thursday was not and as a result, the Beavers will not be represented at this year’s WIAA State Tournament.
The 2026 season came to a close for the River Valley Blackhawks Boys Golf team last week at a WIAA D-2 Regional in Portage. Valley was one of 10 schools in action with only the top four teams advancing to Sectional play this week.

Tuesday was a productive day for the Blackhawks at the Wisconsin Dells D-2 Regional as several athletes punched their ticket to Friday’s Sectional Meet.
The first step along the WIAA Tournament trail was a successful one for the Weston Silver Eagles last Thursday, a 14-2 drubbing of Alma-Pepin, in WIAA D-4 Regional baseball in Cazenovia.
Reedsburg suffered some disappointment by not winning the conference title this spring in Badger Small baseball, but the Beavers pitching has been lights out the past two weeks and Reedsburg takes a four-game win streak into WIAA Tournament play and that includes an 11-2 win over De Forest and a 4-0 win over La Crosse Central last week.
After a rough week, the Reedsburg Beaver baseball team got back to its winning ways last week with a pair of victories in tightly contested games against Edgewood. Unfortunately for the Beavers, the two losses the week previous against Sauk-Prairie cost them a fourth consecutive conference title as Sauk won twice vs.
RAHS senior Preston Powell was the overall medalist at last week’s end of season Badger Small Boys Golf Tournament at Wild Rock, near Wisconsin Dells. Powell carded an even par round of 72 to post the best score in the field. Powell also is a member of the All-Conference team with the second best season average in conference play. RAHS senior Preston Powell achieved an impressive feat on the golf course last Tuesday at Wild Rock, near Wisconsin Dells.
At its May 13 meeting, the Spring Green Village Board formally offered the job of police chief to Andrew Kurek. Kurek is a familiar face in the River Valley area, having served the department for years as a patrol officer, deputy and longtime sergeant.
Reedsburg struggled on the softball diamond last Tuesday in the regular season finale against River Valley but followed up that game with one of their best efforts of the season to kick off the post-season two days later with a lopsided win over Wisconsin Dells to keep the season alive.
