STANEK COLUMN: Hold on to your shorts: It’s not spring yet

If you’re a people-watcher, it’s been an amusing last few weeks.

Letter: Retzlaff stands for school district transparency

What’s the mechanism in place that would enable “fair comparisons” between schools? What’s the range of avenues for citizens to access school performance data both offline and online? What’s the critical data that would allow citizens to ensure financial and pedagogical accountability?

GUEST COLUMN: Are farm payments helping or hurting?

Bobbi Wilson. (Submitted photo)

Wisconsin dairy farmers were treading water in 2020, kept afloat by direct payments from the federal government. The aid resulted in a sharp decrease in herd exits: 360 dairy farms went out of business in Wisconsin last year compared to 818 closures in 2019. When I read the latest statistic, my first reaction was relief.
