GUEST COLUMN: What is patriotism to me?

If I asked you to close your eyes and picture America, what would you see? Would an image of the 50 states flash through your thoughts or a sentimental memory of backyard barbecue and fireworks on the 4th of July? The United States has so many qualities that set it apart from all other places in the world.

Letter: Thank you for letting veterans raise money

Thank you everyone who donated to the recent Thurber-Greenwood VFW Post 1916 poppy drive on Veteran's Day. Your support to our local veterans in need is greatly appreciated. A special "thank you" to Viking Grocery and Quillin's for allowing the veterans to set up at their store.

Letter: Not working for over 200 days

How long would you keep your refrigerator if it conked out and didn’t work? A day? A week? A month? How about 200 days?

Would it bother you if, during a long Wisconsin winter, your well-maintained furnace didn’t work? For months?
