Brooke Heinz, daughter of Tami and Donald Heinz, was selected as the October Sauk Prairie High School Optimist Student of the Month.
Brooke has been and is very busy as she navigates seven Advanced Placement classes taken at Sauk Prairie High School. She is also a member of the National Honor Society, Marching Band (flute and drum major this year), Show Choir Band, and has played softball for three years.
Matt Koscinski, her band director, states “Brooke Heinz has been an integral member of our music department for all four years of her high school career. She is a consummate leader and has taken on the mantle of Drum Major for the 2025 version of the Sauk Prairie High School Marching Band. Through her leadership, both on and off the field, we have continued to break records for scoring and achievement in our marching band. She leads with kindness and empathy. Those traits have helped to transform our band culture and virtually eliminate all interpersonal conflicts between students. Those people-management skills, paired with her top-notch musicianship, are priceless.”
“Brooke is the ideal student. She works hard, not for the recognition, but for her own growth. She completes tasks early, which allows her to be comfortable in times when others are stressed. She maintains a calm that is so reassuring to her peers. I love having Brooke in class, and while she doesn’t sing with me daily, the moments when we do get to interact are a highlight,” commented Matt Brennan, another of Brooke’s teachers,
Brooke will be attending North Dakota State to study architecture.
