Gary A. Pletzer

Gary A. Pletzer age 70 of Spring Green passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026 at Maplewood Nursing Home in Sauk City, WI following a long and courageous battle with kidney cancer. He was born on August 24, 1955 in Richland Center, WI the son of LaVerne G. “Bud” and Elaine C. (Mickle) Pletzer. Gary graduated from River Valley High School in 1973 and married his high school sweetheart Michaeline R. “Miki” Wiest on September 7, 1974. Their union was blessed with three beautiful children and seven grandchildren. Gary had a strong and determined work ethic. He retired in 2020 after working at Cardinal IG for 36 years and three months. Gary and Miki also ran a successful model rocketry business making parachutes for 26 years. In addition, he was a ski instructor at Wintergreen in Spring Green, Wisconsin. Gary enjoyed hunting, motorcycles, skiing, and model rocketry. He loved watching and feeding birds and caring for his hosta and lily plants. Gary traveled to many model rocket launches across the United States. Above all, he loved spending time with family and friends, watching sports, and attending family events. His family was his pride and joy. Gary was kind-hearted and had a great sense of humor. Survivors include his wife, Miki Pletzer of Spring Green; three children, Jessica Pegeese (Jason), Garen Pletzer (Melissa), and Ashley Pletzer; seven grandchildren, JeQuan, Addison, Jaxson, Jase, Stella, Myla, and Graden; siblings, Yvonne Rott (Mark), Harold Pletzer (Laurie), Jane Ring (Allen); and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, LaVerne “Bud” and Elaine Pletzer. A private memorial gathering will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be made at www.staffordfuneralhomes.com.
