DOT starts podcast on rising crashes, fatalities

A new podcast is focusing on an unusual phenomenon happening in Wisconsin.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation rolled out Transportation Connects Us to discuss the increased number of crashes and fatalities.

Traffic has been lower due to COVID-19. However, incidents are higher than the same time last year. Experts will discuss this trend and share ideas on the podcast.

According to the DOT, this is happening in other states as well.

Possible factors include increased risky behaviors such as speeding, alcohol abuse, drug use and reduced seat belt usage.
