It’s Child Passenger Safety Week, and Reedsburg Area Medical Center is taking the opportunity to inform the public of how to properly secure children.

The Birth Center welcomes questions about car seats and can offer free assistance by appointment. Call 608-768-6251 to arrange a time with a child passenger safety tech. Staff can help parents and other caregivers install seats and make sure they are working properly.

They are also available to answer questions on a variety of topics, ranging from when children are ready for booster seats and how to choose the right seat.

Data shows more than half of car seats are not used or installed improperly. Car seats decrease the risk of fatal injuries by 54 percent for toddlers and 71 percent for infants.
