LIBRARY CLOSED

The Library will be closed on Saturday, September 5 and Monday, September 7 for the Cow Chip Festival and Labor Day. During this time, the book drop in the parking lot will remain open. Regular hours will resume on Tuesday, September 8. Come see us in the Cow Chip Parade!
 
STORYTIME BREAK
August 24-September 9
Storytime will be on break from Monday, August 24 until Wednesday, September 9. Miss Tori is finishing up with summer programs and preparing for the fall. Storytime will return on Monday, September 14.
 
FREE SEED LIBRARY
April-August
Small packets of flowers and vegetable seeds will be available at the library. Take only what you will grow. Our free seed library will be out every year. New offerings will be available next year. Open April - August.
 
FOOD PRESERVATION 101
Saturday, September 12 at 10:00 a.m.
Interested in preserving your garden produce? Join us for a presentation on home food preservation and discover research-based techniques for safely preserving foods at home. Topics will include: common food preservation methods including canning, freezing, and drying; key principles for safe water bath and pressure canning; and how to identify and use reliable, research-based food preservation resources. A free dial-gauge pressure canner testing will be available after the presentation to ensure your equipment is operating accurately and safely.
 
THE SALAD THAT BROUGHT ME BACK FROM BURNOUT
Saturday, September 19 at 11:00 a.m.
Join us in welcoming Inga Witscher, a local Wisconsin farmer and host of the PBS series of Around the Farm Table. She will be presenting a cooking + wellness class centered on food as self-respect. Part demo, part storytelling, part emotional wellness session — we’ll make a seasonal lentil salad together, and she’ll share how simple, whole food cooking helped her reclaim joy, energy, and her sense of self after years of burnout.

Copies of the book are available for check out at the library. The book club reads a variety of fiction and nonfiction. All are welcome.
 
TWEEN NITE: AIR DRY CLAY MINI MAGNETS

Make your own mini magnets with air dry clay! Create art that you can put on your fridge. Geared for ages 8-11. No registration required.
 
1,000 BOOKS BEFORE KINDERGARTEN
Can you read 1,000 books with your child before they start kindergarten? Children and parents can earn incentives and small prizes along the way. The real reward: kids who are excited and ready to learn. Parents whose children who have not yet started 5K can sign up by visiting the library.
 
BOOK SALE
The library book sale is open during regular library hours. Browse used books and movies for all ages at reasonable prices in the library’s reading area. New items are added weekly. All proceeds benefit the library via the Friends of the George Culver Community Library.

Badminton Kit
If you need an outdoor game for your party, family gathering or BBQ, check out one of the games in our library of things! This badminton kit includes 4 racquets, birdies, an easy-to-assemble net, and carrying cases for everything. Check out is two weeks.

Have a librarian pick out books and movies selected specifically for you! Fill out the form on our website, saukcitylibrary.org, to let us know what you’re interested in. A librarian will select movies or books for you and call to arrange pick-up.
 
PUZZLE SWAP
Bring in your gently-used puzzles (in good condition, with all the pieces) and exchange for new ones. No puzzles to share? No worries - donations are not required to take part in the fun. Feel free to return puzzles when you are done, or keep them forever.
