School board will honor area businesses at Homecoming

The River Valley School Board highlighted the leadership and efforts of Dr. Masaru Furukawa, center, the district’s medical advisor, at their September meeting during the “Community Spotlight.” The “Community Spotlight” award recognizes community members who have served above and beyond their role for having a positive impact on River Valley staff and students.  Dr. Furukawa has served as the district’s medical advisor for the past several years.  As advisor, he works with district personnel in providing medical analysis and advice per federal and state requirements and assists the nursing team as necessary.  Dr. Furukawa is an advocate, a resident, a coach, a parent, and an invaluable volunteer.  The school board appreciates his devotion to the community, staff, and student body.  He is respected and helps to make the River Valley School District a better place.  Pictured are River Valley School District Administrator Loren Glasbrenner, left, Dr. Furukawa, and Elisabeth Minich, River Valley School Board Member, right.
