Toastmasters to meet outside

After months of Zoom meetings, the Reedsburg Toastmasters group is planning an in-person get-together in Webb Park.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Aug. 20.

The gathering will include speeches, jokes, inspirational ideas and table topic discussions.

Rock Springs receives improvement funds to mitigate flooding damage

The Village of Rock Springs has qualified for federal dollars to undertake projects that aim to reduce flooding and fix current issues.

The Village will receive a $396,000 loan and $228,000 grant to upgrade the sanitary sewer system that was affected by flooding in 2008, 2010, 2018 and 2019.

Registration opens for Lazy Beaver Race

The Reedsburg Kiwanis Club’s 20th Annual Lazy Beaver Canoe and Kayak Race was postponed this year and will be held on Sept. 15.

Registration must be completed by Aug. 15 to receive a discount.

The race was originally supposed to be held July 25 but it was pushed back due to coronavirus.

Reedsburg Utility Commission helps Viking Village Foods save energy, money

Viking Village Foods wrapped up a refrigeration project that will reduce energy usage and save $13,000 in electricity costs each year.

The store collaborated with Reedsburg Utility Commission to complete the project.

Three Reedsburg natives achieved academic excellence this past spring at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.

Bailey Crary and Emily Miller earned high honors while Rebecca Schwerman finished the semester with honors.

Reedsburg PD, Sauk County Sheriff won’t enforce mask mandate

Two area law-enforcement agencies will refer mask mandate complaints to the Sauk County Health Department.

Reedsburg Police Chief Patrick Cummings said it will be up to the health department to take any action, if necessary, and work with the Sauk County District Attorney’s office regarding complaints.

There may not be a rendezvous this year but things haven’t exactly slowed down for the Reedsburg Area Historical Society.

A Reedsburg Public Library card is easily obtained in minutes by visiting the library’s main desk and presenting photo identification that has a current address.

Municipal pool to close Aug. 30

The Reedsburg Municipal Pool in Webb Park will close for the season Aug. 30.

It is open for swimming from noon to 5 p.m. daily, but until 6 p.m. Saturdays. On weekdays, the pool is reserved from 5 to 6 p.m. for water exercises.

Single passes are $5 for adults, $4 for students, regardless of residency. Weekly passes are $20.
