Virginia A. “Gina” Jordan age 87 of Spring Green, WI passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at Greenway Manor Nursing Home in Spring Green. She was born on May 15, 1938 in Freeport, IL the daughter of John Logan and Dorothy Virginia (Timmerman) Benincosa. Virginia was married on June 15, 1963 to Robert G. Jordan.
Virginia graduated from UW Platteville College of Education with a Bachelor of Science Degree in English and Bachelor Science Degree in Biology with an emphasis in secondary education. In 1979, she earned a Master of Arts Degree from Clarke College in Dubuque, IA with a major in learning disabilities.
Virginia began her high school teaching career at Belvidere, IL High School in 1960 and retired from River Valley High School Spring Green, WI in 2004. Early in her career she taught English and American Literature to college bound students. Later, she changed her focus to special education, concentrating on diagnosing reading problems and improving the reading skills of her students. Virginia was a positive influence on her students both in and outside of the classroom. In addition to her classroom time, she spent many years as class advisor, supervising float building, proms, homecoming dances and fundraising activities. In 1969, the Orangeville, IL Senior class honored her by dedicating their yearbook to her.
Virginia was an avid reader and professional garage saler. After retirement, she enjoyed weekly card parties.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Jordan of Spring Green, WI; daughter, Jennifer Jordan (Kelly Schmidt) of La Crosse, WI; grandchildren, Dakota Virginia “Kodi” Jordan of West Allis, WI, Skyler James Jordan of Onalaska, WI; and sister, Kelly Benincosa Schmitt of Galena, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Dorothy Benincosa; father and mother-in-law, William and Hazel Jordan; her son, William B. “Bart” Jordan; siblings, Jacquelyn Alderete and Timothy Benincosa.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. with services to follow at 11:00 A.M. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 26220 Executive Lane, Suite A, Richland Center, WI 53581 Burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Spring Green Food Pantry or a charity of your choice.
