Letter: Provide what we are owed

We the People have been paying into government systems for our entire working lives to guarantee that we have those things that provide the common good for ourselves and our communities. This administration wants to cut those things or put them in danger.

Letter: Consider your choices

With the up coming Spreme Court election please give a great deal of thought to what is at stake with your vote. Our country is facing some very challenging issues that need your attention - and voting for Susan Crawford in my opinion is voting for giving our state stability instead of adding to the chaos.

Letter: Pie sale raised substantial money for library

3.14 was a terrific day for pie lovers at the Reedsburg Library!  Amazing choices were offered; fruit, nut, cream, cheesecakes, along with meat pies, spaghetti pies, and a host of savory pies.  Bountiful choices, fillings, and outstanding sales = $4500. that was raised to support library services and needs.

Nature and Society: Cocoon

I miss cocoons. When I was a kid in Chicago, every winter we would go on cocoon walks. We would find the cocoons of the giant silk moths, the Polyphemus and Cecropia moths with a wing span of five or six inches. We would find them in bushes and shrubs and trees. We would bring them home and keep them in a large cage on the porch.

STANEK COLUMN: Hallelujah! It’s raining…dirt?

If you own a vehicle and went outside this past weekend, you may have noticed brown drops everywhere.

No, a farmer didn’t go crazy with a manure spreader, and, no, a Hershey factory didn’t explode. Trust me, if they had, it would be on the front page of this week’s paper.
