Letter: No matter the tax, the poor pay

Right after WWII, in 1945, we had a booming economy and the Income Tax on top earners was 91 percent. It is currently 37 percent. The 37 percent number doesn’t even reflect the many loopholes and deductions that have also been created just for those who have such exalted incomes.

Enter the Ukraine war and we are introduced to “Oligarchs”. To be sure, there are countless oligarchs in all wars, each having human causalities and financial burdens, burdens that are rarely if ever, equally distributed among the players involved.

Around the Block, April 5, 2025

I do not, when pressed on the issue, like writing at all. I do not like the mechanics of writing in particular. The actual process of writing is not one of my favorite things to do.
