Lone Rock likes its sign

The iconic “coldest in the nation” sign on Highway 14 in Lone Rock is popular with the community. Originally erected in the early 1970s by the Lone Rock Lions Club, the sign on Highway 14 recognizes the day, January 30, 1951, when Lone Rock was the coldest spot in the country.
