Roberts, a Spring Green resident, first began carving in the 1980s when he decided to try his hand at making some decoys for duck hunting. After that, he began carving a variety of ducks and shore birds, and for many years had a booth at the Spring Green Art Fair. Carving has always been just a hobby, but his craft expanded to include fish, Santas, and numerous custom carvings ordered by people who had seen his work. All carvings are also hand painted and one-of-a-kind creations.
These days, Steve only does occasional carving, but still enjoys picking up a carving knife to make something new. His exhibit can be viewed at any time during regular library hours.
